Tengshi’s first car real shot new platform/listed within the year
Tengshi DENZA, a joint venture brand between BYD and Daimler, launched its brand and concept car at the Beijing Auto Show last year. The production model will be launched this year, and the debut of the production model is likely to be at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. A few days ago, we once again obtained the spy photos of the test car of Tengshi DENZA, and with the passage of time, more details gradually became clear.
[The taillights and headlights in the production version have clear outlines, which are obviously different from the concept headlights. The charging socket is hidden under the sealed cover plate in the middle of the air intake grille]
Although the taillights of the production model are temporary light groups like the headlights, the contours have become clear, which is very obvious from the design of the light groups of the concept car. However, the outline of the car body is basically similar, and it adopts a pattern similar to a hatchback and a half. From the side, it is a hatchback model, and the wide C-pillar and the tail box are completely integrated. But from the tail, it is basically a sedan version, with the rear windshield concave, and the trunk is the same as the sedan, with only the trunk lid and the rear windshield fixed.
The side door is still a conventional open design, rather than a concept car split structure. The charging socket is hidden under the sealed cover plate in the middle of the air intake grille. According to the information we have before, the DENZA model does not use the old Mercedes-Benz B-Class platform as reported earlier. For example, the rear suspension system is a torsion beam non-independent suspension, while the Mercedes-Benz B-Class does have a multi-link independent suspension structure. At this point, it is also different from BYD’s own E6 pure electric vehicle, which is also a multi-link independent rear suspension structure.
Previously, the spy photos of the central control panel of DENZA model and the integrated multimedia system panel with black piano paint have been exposed. However, it is not a sci-fi suspended central control panel that can slide horizontally on the concept car. The production model also does not use the camera-type exterior rearview mirror on the concept car. However, the newly exposed gearbox gear lever area is still very scientific and technological, which should be the same as E6 pure electric vehicle. The so-called gearbox gear lever is mainly an adjustment switch of motor drive mode, including four different gears: R, N, D and P. However, the gear of DENZA model adopts a design similar to Lexus’ Remote Touch, like a floating mouse. At the front of it is a water cup holder with a hole.
As a joint venture brand between BYD and Daimler, DENZA’s future is still difficult to determine. Obviously, both manufacturers have left their own hands. Daimler’s aim is to fully absorb the global technical resources of electric vehicles in the new energy era. Not only did Daimler cooperate with BYD, but also took a stake in Tesla, a famous American electric vehicle manufacturer, and the cooperation was further deepened, applying its electric vehicle technology to its own Mercedes-Benz brand models.
Daimler walks on two legs, and the cooperation enthusiasm with Tesla is higher. It is still difficult to determine whether the DENZA model jointly invested with BYD can go to overseas markets as expected. However, it is obvious that BYD has left a back road for itself, and the purpose of cooperation with Daimler is more to grasp the automobile manufacturing standards faster and more accurately, with a view to greatly improving its own car-making technology.
At the same time, BYD’s own electric vehicle technology is still being continuously developed and improved. For example, the bidirectional inverter charging and discharging technology is its latest research and development achievement. Many new modes, such as "vehicle-to-grid mode", electric vehicles can not only charge through the grid, but also feed electricity back to the grid; "Car-to-car mode" can realize mutual charging between electric vehicles. It integrates the functions of drive motor, vehicle charger and DC charging station, which greatly reduces the investment of professional charging stations, simplifies the charging standard and can easily adapt to the power supply situation in different markets.

In February, Sohu Auto first exposed the first spy photos of BYD Daimler Electric Vehicle Joint Venture Company. Last week, Sohu Auto once again exposed the product logo of BYD-Daimler joint venture company and the possible Chinese name. Today, Sohu Auto brings you the interior of the first new car of this joint venture company. Similarly, this is the first time that this new car interior has appeared in the public eye.
Denza new carInterior first exposure and cashMercedes-benz class bStyle approximation
The spy photos of the car’s appearance show that the first model of the joint venture between BYD and Daimler is code-named PT1, which we will call it hereinafter.
From the interior spy photos, the overall interior style design of PT1 is highly similar to that of Mercedes-Benz B-Class, and the design from instrument to center console is almost the same. It’s just that the LED display screen installed on the center console is expected to have a size of 7 inches, which makes the whole interior show the difference and reflects more sense of science and technology. The interior of the whole car adopts the color matching of black on the top and rice on the bottom, which is a common color matching, and the middle is inlaid with mahogany decorative strips, which is suitable for the style of the family car.
Although the new car adopts the consistent steering wheel design of BYD in recent years, it is learned from insiders that the steering wheel installed on the test car does not belong to PT1, but is borrowed from BYD. In the future, the steering wheel of PT1 may adopt a brand-new design. Due to the tight camouflage of the test car, we can’t see other details of the interior.
Along with the exposure of the interior, there is also a clearer photo of the front face. Through it, we also know more specifically the specific appearance of the front face design of this model. Because it is an electric vehicle, the size requirement of the air inlet of the vehicle is not so high, so there is a large area of decorative plate in the middle of the air intake grille of PT1, and the new logo of the joint venture company is in the center of the decorative plate.
The bumper design of the new car doesn’t have much brilliance, but although it is an electric car, it still has a large air intake on the bumper. It seems that its front face is no different from that of an ordinary gasoline car.
Power system or source e6,baseNot completely copiedb grade
Through the appearance we have exposed and the interior spy photos of this exposure, I believe that we have a relatively emotional understanding of PT1. Then, what is the relationship between the powertrain and chassis of this model and the two companies?
Whether PT1′ s power system completely copied BYD e6′ s power system has not been confirmed, but according to insiders, the car’s battery system is closely related to BYD e6. That is to say, at least the battery system of this model comes from BYD’s iron battery system. BYD started with the battery business, which is exactly their strength.
Although we have basically confirmed that this new car is based on Mercedes-Benz B-Class, we found through spy photos that the rear suspension of the test car is obviously different from the current Mercedes-Benz B-Class. Mercedes-Benz Class B is a multi-link independent rear suspension, while PT1′ s rear suspension is a torsion beam semi-independent suspension. The main reason for the change of rear suspension may still be based on cost considerations. Due to the high battery cost of electric vehicles, in other aspects, cost optimization is a must.
After communicating with relevant people, we learned that the PT1 motor, battery and electronic control (the three core components of electric vehicles) are all BYD’s, and its body will be slightly longer than Mercedes-Benz B, and some of its technologies are indeed similar to BYD e6, but it has also been greatly improved.
At the end of this month, BYD-Daimler joint venture company (the new joint venture company is just a research and development center because it has no production qualification) will soon release a brand-new brand and logo, and the English official website of the company can be linked at present. Although it can be linked, it is not known whether the website content is the final confirmation version). The first model of the joint venture company, PT1, will be exhibited at the Beijing Auto Show next month, when we can read the true face of Lushan Mountain.
