The Speaker of the US House of Representatives called for an impeachment investigation against Biden.
Xinhua News Agency, Washington, September 12 (Reporter Shi Chun) McCarthy, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Republican, told the media on the 12th that he had asked the relevant committees of the House of Representatives to launch a formal impeachment investigation against President Biden.
McCarthy said that Republicans in the House of Representatives found that President Biden’s behavior was suspected of "abuse of power, obstruction of justice and corruption" during the investigation on the overseas transactions of Biden’s son hunter biden, and the House of Representatives will further investigate the impeachment.
A spokesman for McCarthy said on the same day that the House of Representatives would not vote on launching an impeachment investigation.
On the same day, White House spokesman Ian sams denied the allegations against Biden on social media, criticizing Republicans for launching impeachment investigation as "the worst extreme politics". Sams also said that the survey conducted by House Republicans in the past nine months showed that there was no evidence of Biden’s misconduct.
Impeachment investigation is a procedural step before impeaching the president. According to the relevant procedures, if the House of Representatives finds that the President has violated the law after completing the impeachment investigation, it shall form an impeachment clause and file an accusation against the President. According to the law, the impeachment clause must first be approved by a simple majority of members of the House of Representatives, and then it must be supported by more than two-thirds of senators.
